Hotel Montefiore

At Hotel Montefiore, a place that carries the atmosphere of Paris within the pulse of Tel Aviv, arrival and departure exist in constant dialogue. It is a hotel, but also a stage for encounters: fleeting, intimate, transformative.

For this exhibition, Unframed Art Collective presents a solo show by multidisciplinary artist Nirit Zer curated by Gemma-Rose Stern-Meiraz and Daniela Joy Tehranian.

For over three decades, the artist has titled each work with the date of its creation. Every autobiographical artwork is marked by a specific moment in time, a title that functions as both statement and memory.

An inner whisper.
A long lost lover.
An unknown longing.
A broken heart.

Each work stands as a statement, gesture, and intensity, yet together they form a constellation of lived experience. They are not illustrations of memory, but embodiments of it.

The exhibition unfolds like a hotel corridor. There is no fixed beginning. The path shifts depending on where one chooses to enter, much like a journey that begins the moment a room key is handed over. You begin wherever you already are.Each corridor offers a different threshold. Each date marks an encounter. Each encounter holds a version of the self.

The frames are integral to the works, are not boundaries but extensions, architectural elements that echo the structure of the hotel itself. They contain, protect, and at times confront the image, becoming part of the narrative rather than its perimeter.

In a city as young and dynamic as Tel Aviv, where identities are constantly rewritten, her works feel at home, suspended between nostalgia and immediacy, between the intimacy of a Parisian salon and the raw vitality of the present moment.
